‘Binde A’ Triumphs as Football Champion in Binde Cultural and Sporting Event


Zoundweogo: ‘Binde A’ was crowned football champion at the closing of the CEB of Binde’s cultural and sporting activities for the 2025-2026 school year. The event, held on Tuesday, May 19, 2026, featured a range of artistic performances and sporting competitions, culminating in the football final where ‘Binde A’ defeated ‘Sinikiere B’ in a penalty shootout.



According to Burkina Information Agency, the event was themed “Educating differently through sport, culture and art in the era of educational reforms” and was sponsored by His Majesty Naaba Yanbolobo II and Mr. Oumarou Compaore. The President of the Special Delegation of Binde, Mrs. Mamounata Congo, served as the high patron.



The ceremony attracted numerous administrative, educational, and traditional authorities, along with a large crowd supporting the participating establishments. In his opening remarks, Issouf Kabre, Head of the CEB of Binde, commended the involvement of education stakeholders, parents, and the organizing committee, highlighting the significance of these activities in the holistic development of students.



Oumarou Compaore, speaking on behalf of the sponsors, expressed his pleasure at being involved with the initiative and affirmed his dedication to supporting youth in their educational pursuits. Mrs. Mamounata Congo, in her closing speech, lauded the organizers and participants for their fair play and reiterated the importance of sports and culture in student development.



The day’s highlight was the football final between “Binde A” and “Sinikiere B”. The match ended in a goalless draw after regulation time, leading to a penalty shootout where “Binde A” claimed victory and secured the trophy. This win marks ‘Binde A’ as the successor to ‘Kabo A’, the previous edition’s champion.
