Tchriba:Mouhoun Eighty-eight individuals were enrolled on October 8, 2026, in Tchriba as part of a special operation to establish the biometric identity card of the Confederation of Sahel States (CIB AES). This initiative was organized by the special municipal delegation in partnership with the regional branch of the National Identification Office (ONI) of Bankui.
According to Burkina Information Agency, the operation coincided with the annual teachers' conference and aimed to bring the National Identification Office's services closer to those in the educational sector. It also sought to facilitate the population's access to the new biometric identity card.
Siaka Bako, head of the ONI regional office in Bankui and Sourou, stated that the initiative allows educational staff to benefit from technological advancements in identification processes. He noted that ONI services in Ddougou have been equipped with new biometric equipment, enhancing data processing efficiency and reducing application processing times and card issuance.
This initial operation in Tchriba successfully registered 88 people without any rejections. However, many were unable to register due to time constraints, highlighting public interest in obtaining the CIB AES biometric identity card.
Following the operation, the ONI team returned to Ddougou, planning another intervention in Tchriba. Villages such as Bissanderou and Tikan are eager to mobilize more participants for future campaigns.
Local residents, supported by municipal authorities, are seeking an extended stay for ONI agents and a subsidy for the card cost to increase accessibility for as many people as possible.
