Bishop Ollo Modeste Kambou Calls for Unity in Diversity During Pentecost Celebration

Kampti: The Catholic community of Kampti celebrated Pentecost with fervor and fraternal communion, in the presence of the Bishop of the diocese, Bishop Ollo Modeste Kambou. During this celebration, marked by hymns, prayers, and the sacraments, 76 faithful received the Holy Spirit through the sacrament of Confirmation, thus becoming adults in the Christian faith. In his homily, the Bishop invited the faithful to cultivate unity in diversity, like the apostles gathered by the Holy Spirit.

According to Burkina Information Agency, the Catholic Church of Kampti vibrated on Sunday, May 24, 2026, to the rhythm of the celebration of Pentecost, with the actual presence of the diocesan father of the family, Mgr Ollo Modeste Kambou, who came to commune with the Catholic faithful of the parish.

For Bishop Ollo Modeste Kambou, these newly confirmed are called to walk in the light of Christ and to bear witness to the Gospel on a daily basis. Addressing the godparents, the bishop urged them to remain close to their godchildren in order to accompany them spiritually with responsibility and fidelity.

“Confirmation is not a simple ceremony, but a lifelong commitment to Christ. Godparents must help their godchildren to remain firm in the faith despite trials,” said Bishop Ollo Modeste Kambou.

Returning to the profound meaning of Pentecost, he called on the faithful to promote social cohesion, forgiveness, and unity between communities. “The Holy Spirit has come to unite peoples despite their differences. We must learn to live together in peace, love, and solidarity,” he emphasized.

Visibly moved after his confirmation, one of the 76 newly confirmed expressed his joy and his commitment to remain faithful to the teachings of the Church. “Today is an unforgettable day for me. I feel that I am beginning a new life with Jesus Christ and I promise to remain faithful to my faith,” he confided.

The celebration concluded in an atmosphere of fellowship and joy, marked by songs of thanksgiving and blessings for the newly confirmed and for the entire Christian community of Kampti.
