Bissiga: School principals have been mobilized to ensure the success of the Arts and Culture Month in the Bissiga district. The Head of Basic Education District (CCEB), Michel Boundaogo, and the Secretary General of the organization of sport and culture at the primary school, Alidou Sorgho, convened a meeting with school directors to strategize the implementation of the Artistic and Cultural Month (MAC) within the commune's schools.
According to Burkina Information Agency, the meeting aimed to equip school leaders with essential information on the guidelines, objectives, and practical organizational methods of MAC. This initiative is part of a national effort to promote culture and indigenous values in schools. Michel Boudaogo, the Chief Inspector of Basic Education for the district, emphasized that the initiative seeks to strengthen students' connection to their cultural identity while enhancing the quality of education.
Alidou Sorgho, leading the discussions, highlighted that MAC aligns with national guidelines and the authorities' vision of utilizing schools as a platform for cultural transmission. "Burkinab¨ schools are called upon to play a central role in shaping learners who embody indigenous cultural values, firmly rooted in their identity and socio-cultural heritage," he stated. He further explained that the Arts and Culture Month aims to integrate arts, cultural education, and indigenous knowledge into the school curriculum.
The discussions outlined the main implementation areas of MAC, including context, objectives, expected results, implementation strategies, and activity schedules. Organizers stressed a participatory, inclusive, and decentralized approach, involving educational, cultural, and community stakeholders, as key to the initiative's success.
The MAC calendar spans four weeks, each focused on activities promoting culture and artistic talent in schools. The CCEB underscored the importance of school principals and teachers in the initiative's success, urging their active involvement.
