Ouagadougou: The agricultural Volunteers for the Defense of the Homeland (VDP) of the Bittou commune, along with Boulgou’s security focal point for the President of Burkina Faso, Daouda Kr, have successfully sprayed their fields, spanning an area of more than 6 hectares, as observed by AIB on Friday, August 21, 2026.

According to Burkina Information Agency, the agricultural VDP, equipped with sprayers, mobilized early in the morning alongside Comrade Kr to treat their crops. These farms are situated approximately ten kilometers from Bittou. Daouda Kr noted that the current condition of the plants is promising, hinting at favorable harvest prospects if the rains persist until October.

“This morning, we had the courage to support the agricultural volunteers in their patriotic work. After applying fertilizer last week, we are now in the spraying phase,” Kr explained. He commended the agricultural VDP of Bittou for their patriotic dedication and their contributions towards achieving food self-sufficiency.

In total, the agricultural VDPs have sown over 6.5 hectares, planting a variety of crops including maize, sesame, and cowpeas. Comrade Zampaligre, representing the agricultural VDP, expressed satisfaction with the crops’ progress, stating, “Considering the appearance of the plants, we are satisfied and hope to obtain an excellent yield,” on behalf of the team.

This initiative by agricultural volunteers is part of a broader effort to enhance agricultural production and support food self-sufficiency, especially in a context where rural participants are encouraged to boost national production.
