Bobo-Dioulasso: 77 Truants Sent to the Faso Mªbo Site

Bobo-dioulasso: The “In class or at Faso Mªbo” operation, conducted last Friday by the Bobo-Dioulasso Anti-Crime Brigade (BAC), resulted in the arrest of 77 students caught red-handed truanting in three major high schools in the city. These students, who had skipped classes to engage in vagrancy, were taken to the Faso Mªbo site to perform community service.

According to Burkina Information Agency, the BAC teams met at the camp at 7:30 a.m. for a briefing led by Chief Police Commissioner Dakiswend© Mose Sylvain Tiendr©b©ogo. The instructions were clear: carry out arrests without violence, raise awareness among the students, and transport them to the Faso Mªbo site.

Three separate teams were then deployed around the Guimbi Ouattara regional vocational high school, the Mollo Sanou provincial high school, and the Vinama Thi©mounou Djibril municipal high school.

A total of 77 students were arrested outside their schools during class hours. All were briefed before being taken to the Faso Mªbo site. The operation also resulted in the seizure of 70 motorcycles and 47 bicycles.

Police Captain Fabrice Ou©draogo, head of the BAC operations office, stated that investigations have revealed that the areas surrounding certain schools were being used as dens for the sale of narcotics. This operation therefore aims to put an end to these deviant practices and to make students more responsible.

The heads of the high schools concerned welcomed this initiative, which they consider useful for restoring discipline and improving learning conditions within the establishments.
