Bobo-Dioulasso: Journalists decipher the contribution of the dry port to the economy of Sya

Bobo-Dioulasso, The Association of Journalists of Burkina (AJB) organized a public conference on Friday on the contribution of the dry port in the revival of the economy of the city of Sya.

“The dry port, since its creation in 2010, has had significant impacts on the economic activity of Bobo-Dioulasso,” said the deputy regional director of the Bobo-Dioulasso Chamber of Commerce and Industry, François Drabo.

For Mr. Drabo, the creation of the port has encouraged the development of new activities.

According to him, the dry port allowed the creation of many structures such as restaurants and warehouses.

“All the structures installed at the dry port contribute in one way or another to revive the economy of Bobo-Dioulasso,” he added.

According to the central customs inspector, Jean-Paul Yaméogo, the customs office of the dry port of Bobo-Dioulasso is ranked 3rd out of 63 offices in terms of revenue mobilization.

To believe it, the customs office of the dry port received more than 115 billion F CFA in revenue in 2018, 118 billion F CFA in 2019 and 106 billion F CFA in 2020 and plans to 125 billion F CFA in 2021.

“It unites the skills of six offices on its own,” Yameogo continued.

The Inspector explained that the customs office of the dry port of Bobo is the reference office of the western customs region.

When asked about the existence of competition between the Chamber of Commerce and Industry and economic operators, Mr. Drabo replied that “the mission of the Chamber of Commerce is to support economic operators and not to competetion “.

The panelists spoke about the difficult security situation in the country which has caused constraints in the area of ​​transit.
