Bogand©: Twenty-six volunteer blood donors, as well as schools, churches, and mosques, were honored Tuesday in Bogand©, during a recognition ceremony organized by the Bogand© Volunteer Blood Donors Association (ADSB), in collaboration with the Eastern Regional Blood Transfusion Center and the Bogand© Health District.
According to Burkina Information Agency, the ceremony aimed to pay tribute to the simple yet vital act of donating blood, which plays a crucial role in saving lives every day. Acknowledging the selflessness of these donors, health authorities and stakeholders in the blood donation sector emphasized the importance of this life-saving gesture.
During the event, 26 regular donors were awarded certificates of honor for their ongoing commitment to blood donation. Additionally, certificates of recognition were presented to six other entities, including a secondary school and several religious institutions, for their exemplary efforts in promoting and supporting voluntary blood donation initiatives.
Mr. Ali Lankoand©, President of the Bogand© Volunteer Blood Donors Association, used the occasion to present the 2024 Patriots' Trophy. This award, received during the Great Night of Patriotism on May 31, 2024, at CENASA, symbolizes national recognition of the humanitarian efforts undertaken by the ADSB for the benefit of the Eastern region.
Ms. Alice Bikienga/Lankoand©, the first vice-president of the Bogand© municipal special delegation, expressed admiration for the unwavering commitment of those involved in blood donation, underscoring their critical role in ensuring the availability of blood products in the municipality.
Dr. Guaminatou Tapsoba, representing the chief physician of the Bogand© health district, conveyed the medical profession's gratitude towards the association. She noted that the ADSB "always intervenes promptly in the event of a shortage, thus saving many lives."
The initiative highlighted the entire chain of solidarity surrounding blood donation and called on all citizens to join the movement, making blood donation an act of civic duty and patriotism.
