Bogandé: A sustainable water resources management project launched

Ouagadougou: The second vice president of the special municipal delegation of Bogandé, Oumarou Tindano launched, Friday July 19, 2024 in Bogandé, a project for the sustainable management of water resources.The project entitled 'contribution to the sustainable management of water resources in the commune of Bogandé' is implemented by the Eastern Regional Environment Directorate in partnership with the Liptako Water Agency (AEL) . Lasting 10 months, the said project was officially launched on Friday July 19, 2024 by the 2nd vice-president of the special municipal delegation of Bogandé, Oumarou Tindano.On the occasion, the 2nd vice-president Oumarou Tindano invited the populations of Bogandé to fully invest in carrying out the activities. 'We hold the population in general and local residents in particular responsible for achieving the objectives pursued by this project,' he declared.According to the project focal point, SA Roland Tapsoba, the work will essentially consist of the recovery of at least 10 he ctares of degraded land, the protection of water resources, the conduct of awareness-raising activities and capacity building of stakeholders. on good water resources management practices.Indeed, a 10 ha site was identified in the district called Diépergou located in sector 1, left side 5 kilometers from the exit of the town of Bogandé on the Bogandé-Thion axis. The site will be marked by a wire mesh fence. Inside, scarification work will be carried out with the Delfino plow, the planting of nearly 8,000 Senegal acacia plants. Added to this is the sowing of senna Tora and antropogon ayatus, species which promote land restoration.At the Bogandé dam, around 3000 plants, notably Jatropha curcas and Bauhinia rufescens, will also be planted with the sole aim of protecting the banks. At the same time, 14 stakeholders will benefit from a capacity building session on good water resources management methods. Local populations will be trained to implement good sustainable land management practices.According to th e provincial director of the environment of Gnagna Paul Barnard NAGALO, radio broadcasts on good practices in sustainable management of water resources will be carried out to reach the greatest number of residents.After the launch, a reforestation session was held on the Diépergou site during construction and mobilized the administrative, customary and religious authorities as well as the populations.Source: Burkina Information Agency
