Bogandé/Koglweogo Anniversary: ??A Call for Discipline and Strengthened Collaboration

Harare: The Koglweogo self-defense groups of Bogandé celebrated their 11th anniversary on Saturday, in the presence of administrative and customary authorities and the vital forces of the Gnagna province. The ceremony was marked by tributes to the efforts of the Koglweogo in the fight against organized crime, as well as calls for more discipline and collaboration with the Defense and Security Forces (FDS).According to Burkina Information Agency, the speakers praised the role played by these groups over the past decade in ensuring the safety of people and property. The emissary of His Majesty Yempaabou, Chief of the Bogandé canton, D. Robert Lankoandé, expressed his gratitude to the Koglweogo for the sacrifices made for the benefit of the people. He urged them to continue their commitment with unity and a sense of responsibility.The president of the Koglweogo self-defense groups of Bogandé, Djingri Lankoandé, paid tribute to the first president of the structure, Haro D. Daouda, who lost his life on the eve ning of October 22, 2020. He praised his commitment to security and recalled the sacrifices made to protect the population. The remembrance of him evoked deep emotion among those present, who observed a moment of silence.Speaking at the event, the prefect, president of the special delegation (PDS) of Bogandé, Taugolo Paré, representing the high commissioner of Gnagna, indicated that the Koglweogo have "significantly contributed to the fight against organized crime in the province". He also noted their contribution to the mobilization of local resources, particularly through the recovery of stray animals, as well as their involvement in community activities.According to him, their commitment contributed to the creation of a favorable environment, which facilitated the recruitment of the first Volunteers for the Defense of the Homeland (VDP) in the locality. The PDS, however, called on the Koglweogo to show more discipline and strengthen their collaboration with administrative authorities and the security f orces. "Every action must be taken in conjunction with the competent authorities," he insisted.He also urged them to get involved in raising public awareness on civic issues, including the fight against speeding and uncivil behavior, such as the uncontrolled dumping of waste. In this context, he announced the organization of a sanitation day scheduled for Thursday, April 9, 2026, in Bogandé.The municipal authority also invited the population to adopt better consumption habits, favoring local products and avoiding adulterated drinks. The commemoration provided an opportunity to take stock of the actions undertaken and to reaffirm the need for synergy between the Koglweogo, the authorities, and the security forces to address the security challenges in the Gnagna province.
