Boromo Residents Honor Tradition with Rituals and Sacrifices on May 15

Bale: The people of Boromo celebrate May 15 through rituals, invocations, and sacrifices for the nation. The celebration of the day of traditions and customs was marked by a ceremony of ritual, invocation, and sacrifice at the altar of sacrifices in sector 02 of Boromo on the morning of Thursday, May 15, 2025. The service was led by the "Inu" or land chief, Tch¨bel¨ Sougue, surrounded by his notables in the presence of a strong delegation of local administrative authorities led by the high commissioner of the province, Martin Bako.

According to Burkina Information Agency, local customs and traditions are celebrated in the Bale province on Thursday, May 15. In the town of Boromo, followers of traditions and customs converged at the Winien district where rituals, invocations of the spirits of ancestors, and sacrifices were held for peace, social cohesion, and individual needs.

The ceremony featured sacrifices for the nation, followed by individual requests from people of all ethnicities, who came to seek the favor of the ancestors for various reasons. To this end, the "Inu" and his elders expressed wishes for happiness, health, peace, and security for all of Burkina Faso. They also invoked the spirits of the ancestors and the spirit of the village's sacred sites on behalf of the authorities so that they could accomplish and succeed in their mission.

The traditional authorities welcomed the establishment of this day and the revival of young people in traditions and customs.

A delegation of local authorities attended the rituals and also communed with the community. The presence of the authorities was greatly appreciated by the local dignitaries.

According to the provincial High Commissioner, Martin Bako, May 15 is a day dedicated to customary religion. It was important for us to come and present our greetings and also thank them for all the prayers they are offering so that cohesion reigns not only in Boromo but also throughout the country, Mr. Bako said.

"We also came to recommend ourselves to their prayers, to recommend the government and the entire country so that peace returns to Burkina Faso," he added.

The provincial authority also affirmed that the festival is going well throughout the province and rituals are underway in the municipalities according to the reports reaching it.
