Abuja: The Bossora Health and Social Promotion Center (CSPS) in the commune of Satiri launched the second round of Seasonal Malaria Chemoprevention (CPS+) on Thursday, July 23, 2026. This campaign, which will continue until July 26, follows a refresher training session for community distributors (CDs) held on July 22.

According to Burkina Information Agency, during these four days, community distributors will make home visits to administer CPS+ medications to children aged 3 to 59 months, the age group targeted by the intervention. They will also screen for malnutrition, look for cases of edema, identify and destroy larval habitats, and count under-vaccinated children and those who have not received any vaccine dose ("zero dose").

The teams will also conduct awareness sessions on malaria prevention measures. A total of twelve teams have been deployed to eighteen farming hamlets within the Bossora health district. Their objective is to protect 1,927 children aged 3 to 59 months against malaria during this campaign.

Ambroise Nabaloum, the head nurse at the Bossora primary healthcare center, urged community distributors to demonstrate commitment, courage, and vigilance to ensure the operation's success. He emphasized that the agricultural season presents a significant challenge, as many families travel to the fields daily with their children.

Comrade Nabaloum also requested the support of parents as well as customary and religious authorities, so that they would give a warm welcome to the distribution teams and facilitate their passage, to allow all eligible children to benefit from seasonal malaria chemoprevention, an essential strategy to reduce cases of malaria in young children during the rainy season.
