Ganzourgou: The Boudry departmental high school emerged victorious at the Zorgho multi-sports stadium, defeating Zorgho provincial high school 3-2 in the final of the second edition of the provincial director's cup for secondary education and vocational and technical training of Ganzourgou.
According to Burkina Information Agency, the competition, which started on April 9 and concluded on May 21, 2025, saw participation from thirteen teams representing different schools across the province. The event garnered significant enthusiasm, culminating in an exciting final match between Boudry Departmental High School and Zorgho Provincial High School.
The final match witnessed an exhilarating start, with Boudry opening the scoring through a penalty kick in less than 10 minutes. Zorgho promptly equalized, and shortly before halftime, scored again to lead 2-1. However, Boudry equalized again with a free kick after halftime, and eventually secured their victory with a late goal, ending the match 3-2. Alongside the trophy, Boudry received 65,000 CFA francs, four footballs, and gold medals.
Zorgho Provincial High School, finishing as runners-up, received 50,000 FCFA, three balls, and silver medals. Saint Pierre High School in Zorgho and Mogt©do Departmental High School, both in third place, were awarded 25,000 FCFA, two balls, and bronze medals. Mankarga V6 High School earned the Commitment Award, while Rapadama V4 High School received the Fair Play Team Award.
In a gesture promoting environmental consciousness, the provincial environmental department promised 15 shade-producing plants to the winners and 10 plants to the runner-up.
Mr. Ilias Ou©draogo, the patron of the event, praised the initiative for fostering cohesion and fraternity among students. Barth©l©my Boudaon©, the Provincial Director of Secondary Education, expressed satisfaction with the event's success and hinted at future editions featuring additional disciplines like running, slam, and athletics.
The High Commissioner of Ganzourgou Province, Aminata Sorgho/Gouba, presided over the ceremony, lauding the successful execution of the competition despite challenges, and urging continued support for this unifying event. The competition ended on a festive note, underscoring the vibrant spirit of Ganzourgou's school youth.
