Bougouriba: The monthly ceremony of the rotating raising of the national colors in the province of Bougouriba was held on Monday, April 6, 2026, at the La Reine du Sud-Ouest Regional Catholic University (UCR-LRSO) in Di©bougou, in the presence of administrative, university authorities, and local stakeholders. Around the flagpole were the university's founder, Monsignor Der Rapha«l Dabir© Kusi©l©, the acting rector and director general of the institution, Dr. Paul Andr© Dabir©, administrative staff, students, and a delegation of students from the Pierre Kula Catholic College. The provincial authorities, led by the High Commissioner, also participated in the ceremony.
According to Burkina Information Agency, the raising of the colors was carried out by the National Gendarmerie, to the sound of the national anthem, the Ditany¨, sung in chorus by the participants, in an atmosphere imbued with solemnity and patriotic fervor. Following this phase, messages were delivered to reiterate the meaning and significance of this civic act. Speaking on behalf of the students, the student representative, Alimata Diallo, a third-year law student, emphasized the highly symbolic nature of the ceremony. According to her, this moment reminds each citizen of their belonging to the same nation and their commitment to fundamental values such as patriotism, solidarity, discipline, and a sense of duty.
She also invited her classmates to make this ceremony "a constant call to their duty to the nation," while urging them to become more involved as "responsible citizens, exemplary students and agents of change." Translating this commitment into concrete action, the students and administrative staff of the university made a donation to Faso Mªbo Bougouriba. This donation consisted of a check for 292,000 CFA francs and five bags of cement. It was the result of an internal fundraising effort through voluntary contributions.
Upon receiving the donation, the High Commissioner of the province praised the initiative, noting that it perfectly aligns with the National Days of Patriotic Engagement and Civic Participation, launched by the highest authorities in the country. He encouraged the donors to continue this spirit of solidarity and civic responsibility. The ceremony ended with a prayer for peace and social cohesion in Burkina Faso, recited by Bishop Der Rapha«l Dabir© Kusi©l©.
Opened in 2021, the La Reine du Sud-Ouest Regional Catholic University of Di©bougou has three training and research units (UFR) and offers courses in law, sociology, modern literature, and English.
