Bougouriba: The Basic Education District (CEB) of Dolo held the closing of its sports and cultural activities at the A primary school in Niceo on Thursday, April 30, 2026, around the theme "Sport and culture in primary school, a factor of cohesion and living together". The ceremony saw a strong mobilization of administrative, customary and religious authorities, alongside actors from the education system and populations from Dolo and surrounding communes, notably Bondigui, Diebougou, and Tiankoura.
According to Burkina Information Agency, several educational officials also honoured the event with their presence, including the Provincial Director of Preschool, Primary and Non-Formal Education (DPEPPNF) of Bougouriba, accompanied by the Heads of Basic Education Districts (CCEB) of Diebougou, Tiankoura, and Bobo 4. The program for this closing day included the final of the football tournament, artistic performances, and the presentation of awards to students who distinguished themselves in the various cultural competitions.
The football final pitted Dolo A Primary School against Bekoro Primary School in a hard-fought and intense match. At the end of regulation time, the two teams were tied 1-1. A penalty shootout was needed to decide the winner. Bekoro, more clinical in front of goal, prevailed 5-4, thus claiming the trophy. In addition to the sporting competitions, the ceremony featured a variety of cultural performances. Students from Bekoro performed a traditional dance, while those from Niceo sang the national anthem in the Dioula language. A recital by a student further enriched the artistic program, drawing admiration from the audience.
In his address, the Head of the Dolo Basic Education District commended the commitment of teachers and school councils to the success of the initiative. He emphasized the importance of sports and cultural activities in the holistic development of students, beyond academic learning. The President of the Special Delegation (PDS) of Dolo, for his part, emphasized the role of culture as a lever for strengthening social cohesion. He invited educational stakeholders and communities to become more involved in supporting children for their full development.
Concluding the presentations, the Provincial Director of Basic Education expressed his satisfaction with the quality of the organization and the strong mobilization of participants. He encouraged other districts in the province to follow this initiative, with a view to promoting harmonious coexistence in schools.
