Boulkiemd© Province Mobilizes for Tree Planting Initiative to Re-Green Burkina Faso

Koudougou: As part of the government initiative 'The Patriotic Hour to Green Up Faso', the constituted bodies of the Boulkiemd© province mobilized on Saturday, June 20, at the Koudougou Oral and Dental Center for a large-scale planting operation.

According to Burkina Information Agency, the initiative, themed "My concession, my tree", aims to plant five million seedlings across the country in one hour, with an emphasis on ensuring the survival and flourishing of the planted trees. In Koudougou, under the leadership of the High Commissioner of Boulkiemd©, Salimata Ouedraogo/Sanou, approximately thirty plants including kola trees, flamboyant trees, peltophorums, tamarind trees, and mahogany trees, were planted.

The provincial director of Water and Forests, Nabons©ba Hilaire Sayaogo, highlighted the strategic importance of this project for the medical center. He noted that the trees would create a microclimate, filter the air, and provide shade for patients and visitors, while enhancing the working environment. He emphasized the need for rigorous maintenance, likening the care of trees to that of a patient requiring attention, regular watering, and appropriate pruning.

The director of the Medical Center, Robert Sawadogo, expressed satisfaction with the initiative, noting how it enhances the shade and security of the center. He praised the professionalism involved, which ensures the longevity of these plants.

The High Commissioner concluded the ceremony by commending the institutions for their mobilization and encouraged citizens to plant a tree on their property. She also announced the upcoming launch of the "My Institution, My Grove" campaign on June 27th, aiming to re-green institutional spaces, especially the University of Koudougou.

On this day of celebration, authorities and technicians conveyed a unified message: for a green and sustainable Burkina Faso, it is essential to "plant usefully and maintain".
