Boulkiemde Stakeholders Evaluate 2025 Community Actions at Extraordinary CCP Meeting

Boulkiemde: Development stakeholders in Boulkiemde province participated on Tuesday, December 16, in the first extraordinary session of the Provincial Consultation Framework (CCP) for 2025, focusing on ongoing activities. At the opening of the meeting, held in the meeting room of the Nando Regional Directorate of Sports, the High Commissioner of Boulkiemde, Ms. Salimata Ouedraogo/Sanou, welcomed the prefects, presidents of the special municipal delegations, traditional, religious, military, and paramilitary authorities, as well as representatives of technical services, NGOs, and development projects and programs.

According to Burkina Information Agency, Ms. Ouedraogo expressed her gratitude to all stakeholders for their participation, while particularly commending the NGO NITID€š¬  and its partners for their support in facilitating this forum for discussion. She stated that the CCP provides a valuable forum for dialogue and coordination, enabling stakeholders to unite their efforts to combat poverty, reduce inconsistencies, and strengthen the complementarity of development interventions in the province.

Several presentations were given during this session. The Provincial Director of Water and Forests for Boulkiemde, Mr. Hilaire Sayaogo, presented the opportunities, challenges, and prospects related to non-timber forest products (NTFPs). He highlighted the interest in local products and their contribution to environmental protection, while also emphasizing the difficulties associated with insufficient statistics and unsustainable practices. He also discussed prospects such as the establishment of market information systems for NTFPs.

For his part, the Provincial Director of Water and Environmental Sanitation, Mr. Souhaib Kabore, presented a report on his department's activities for 2025, with an implementation rate of approximately 78%. Key actions include the construction of drinking water infrastructure, the establishment of a water users' committee for the Soum Dam, and environmental protection activities.

Ms. Caroline Bassono, coordinator of the OKDB Terroir project, presented the achievements and future prospects of this European Union-funded project, implemented by a consortium led by NITID€š¬ . The project operates in the Boulkiemde and Sanguie provinces through the preservation of community forests, the development of income-generating activities, and the strengthening of social cohesion.

At the closing, the Secretary General of the province, Mr. Felix Ouedraogo, on behalf of the High Commissioner, congratulated the participants for the quality of the discussions and thanked all the technical and financial partners.
