Ouagadougou: The parish of Boulsa mobilized its Christian faithful on Sunday, August 2, 2026, for a blood donation operation, in preparation for the 10th edition of Bayir Daar©, scheduled from August 6 to 9, 2026. The initiative made it possible to collect 57 bags of blood intended to strengthen stocks during this period of high demand.
According to Burkina Information Agency, the event was organized within the parish grounds and carried out with the support of the Boulsa health district, the National Blood Transfusion Centre (CNTS) of the Koulsregion, the NGO Alima, and the School Movement for a Bright Future (MOSAR).
The parish priest of Boulsa, Father Constant Ou©draogo, expressed his delight at the strong turnout of parishioners. He highlighted the spiritual and humanitarian significance of the act, stating: "Whoever gives blood saves a life. Whoever saves a life does the work of God."
A total of 57 units of blood were collected after Sunday mass. Several volunteers, although motivated, were unable to donate due to their age, health condition, or other contraindications.
Oumarou Ou©draogo, the healthcare manager for the NGO Alima in Boulsa, commended the participants' commitment. He expressed gratitude to all volunteers, including those who were ultimately unable to donate blood. "We nevertheless express our gratitude to them. Any initiative aimed at improving the health of the population is welcome," he said.
Dr. Carole H©l¨ne Ou©draogo, head physician of the Boulsa Medical Center with Surgical Unit (CMA), also conveyed her satisfaction with the operation's results. On behalf of the district's chief medical officer, she thanked all partners for their support and urged the public to respond generously to calls for blood donations, particularly during August, a month with high demand for blood products.
In closing the activity, Father Constant Ou©draogo extended wishes for a speedy recovery to the recipients of the blood products and renewed his blessings to the donors and partners who contributed to the operation's success.
