Ouagadougou, The association ” Le Tocsin ” denounced the facility granted to “adults” to travel all over the world, despite the closure of borders due to the Covid, while ” little ones ”must wait or imagine workarounds.
“We can take double standards. While “the big ones” can circulate almost everywhere in the world, “the little ones” must wait, “wrote the president of the association” Le Tocsin “Dr Serge Noël Ouédraogo, about the closing of the borders because of of the Covid.
Mr. Ouédraogo, who spoke in a statement received Wednesday at the AIB, indicated that in “quest for survival”, “the little ones” must imagine ways of circumventing with multiple consequences.
He enumerated the sharp increase in the tariffs of interstate transport, the risks of robberies, racketeering and rapes at the borders and the risks of the development of a “criminal economy” in the border areas.
As a reminder, Burkina’s land borders have remained officially closed since March 21, 2020, some two weeks after the start of the Covid-19.
Air borders are open to people with a negative PCR test.
“The Tocsin thinks that the rulers of the States of the UEMOA and ECOWAS areas must weigh the advantages and disadvantages of this closure of land borders and take, if necessary, the strong measure which is necessary for the benefit of the populations”, estimated Dr Serges Noël Ouédraogo.
