Burkina/CSC: Oumarou Mogmenga promises to fulfill his function with dignity and loyalty


Oumarou Mogmenga promised Wednesday, before the wise men of the Constitutional Council, to fulfill with dignity and faithfulness his function as member of the Higher Council of Communication (CSC).

“I solemnly swear to well and faithfully fulfill my function as a member of the Higher Council for Communication (CSC), in complete independence and impartiality, in a dignified and loyal manner and to keep the deliberations secret,” promised the new member of the Higher Council for Communication, Oumarou Mogmenga.

Mogmenga, spoke on Wednesday, September 25, 2024 in Ouagadougou, before 5 judges of the Constitutional Council, during the solemn hearing for the swearing-in of the nine members of the Burkinabe media regulatory body.

“We will work to ensure that the spirit and letter of the oath we have just made are respected,” he added.

With this commitment, Oumarou Mogmenga, Advisor in information and communication sciences and techniques by training, receives discharge to exercise his functions as advisor to th
e CSC.

He was appointed on September 4, 2024 by the Council of Ministers, as President of Faso.

Recalling the country’s security challenge, the President of the Constitutional Council, Barthélemy Kéré, stressed the importance of the responsibility of the members of the CSC who may be required to choose between respecting the right to information and preserving security and social cohesion.

The Higher Council for Communication, with 9 members, is the regulatory body for media and communication in Burkina Faso.

Its missions include, among others, the application of legislation and communication in matters of public communication, the promotion of freedom of expression and the right to information and ensuring compliance with professional ethics by public and private media.
