Burkina / Electronic communications: The regulator exchanges with users

Ouagadougou, The Electronic Communications and Postal Regulatory Authority (ARCEP) discussed Wednesday in Bobo Dioulasso, with consumers and users of its services.

According to the president of the Electronic Communications and Postal Regulatory Authority (ARCEP), Tontama Charles Millogo, the meeting aims to share certain information with consumers and collect their expectations and concerns about the electronic institution.

According to Mr. Millogo, his institution wants to promote digital technology through the digital transformation of public and private services in Burkina Faso.

The head of ARCEP spoke on Wednesday in Bobo Dioulasso, at the end of a public conference under the theme “ARCEP’s contribution to digital inclusion for a successful digital transformation”.

This meeting is being held on the sidelines of the 17th edition of Digital Week from November 9 to 13, 2021 in the said city.

This conference, according to its initiators, remains a platform initiated in order to respond to the complaints of consumers and users of electronic communications services.

“Digital inclusion consists of making digital technology accessible to all segments of the population and transmitting digital skills which will be a lever for their social and economic inclusion,” he argued.

For Tontama Charles Millogo, his structure has identified around 1,700 localities where there is no operator and is working to promote access to digital services in these affected areas.

“By virtue of its sovereign missions, ARCEP ensures the regulation of the field of electronic communications and postal services, ensures healthy and fair competition in electronic communication activities in order to provide innovative quality services accessible to the populations”, a- he added.

The president of ARCEP pointed out that his institution has opted for participatory and inclusive governance in digital technology for the happiness of the populations.

The director of regulation of fixed and mobile markets, Salamata Rouamba, noted that ARCEP is working to cover 183 localities by the end of 2021.

Ms. Rouamba explained that 58 localities have been put into service and that work is underway to varying degrees on the other sites.

“ARCEP has contributed to the training of 300 young people across the country in the upkeep and maintenance of digital terminals (mobile phones, computers, tablets, etc.), she pointed out.
