Burkina Faso and Burundi Strengthen Bilateral Ties with New Agreements

Ouagadougou: Following the visit of the President of the Republic of Burundi to Burkina Faso, the two nations have committed to enhancing their friendship and cooperation. The Minister of Foreign Affairs, Karamoko Jean-Marie Traore, met with Burundi's Ambassador, Edouard Nduwimana, in Ouagadougou to discuss the progression of this partnership.

According to Burkina Information Agency, the discussions aimed to follow up on the recommendations from the talks between the Burkinabe and Burundian Heads of State, emphasizing the revival of bilateral cooperation. The Burundian ambassador highlighted that the meeting reviewed several draft agreements in progress, aiming to expedite their signing and implementation.

These projects encompass sectors such as higher education, vocational training, trade, transport, visa exemptions, and the creation of frameworks for youth exchanges between the two countries. The parties also agreed on the necessity of organizing the major Joint Cooperation Commission and a business forum for Burkinabe and Burundian economic operators.

Minister Karamoko Jean-Marie Traore assured that his technical services are prepared to work on strengthening the legal and institutional framework of the cooperation, which is expected to bring beneficial prospects for both Burkina Faso and Burundi.
