Ouagadougou: The Minister of Foreign Affairs, Regional Cooperation and Burkinabe Abroad, HE Karamoko Jean Marie Traore, and HE Abdulsalam Bin Mohammad Al Murshidi, President of the High Authority of the Sovereign Wealth Fund of the Sultanate of Oman, have signed an Investment Cooperation Agreement between the Government of Burkina Faso and the Investment Authority of the Sultanate of Oman. The signing took place on the evening of Wednesday, August 27, 2025.
According to Burkina Information Agency, HE Abdulsalam Bin Mohammad Al Murshidi emphasized that this agreement marks an initial step in fostering cooperation between Burkina Faso and the Sultanate of Oman. He encouraged both nations to accelerate efforts to implement the projects outlined in the agreement. Al Murshidi expressed Oman's readiness to enhance collaboration with Burkina Faso in sectors such as agriculture, mining, and energy.
"This signing marks a beginning and we hope that the projects will be realized for the happiness of our populations; we hope that this will be a fruitful collaboration between our two countries," he stated.
HE Karamoko Jean Marie Traore highlighted that the agreement not only initiates cooperation between the two countries but also underscores the commitment of their respective authorities to collaborative efforts. He pointed out that the investment sectors targeted by the Omani sovereign wealth fund align with Burkina Faso's priorities, particularly in public development policies.
The Burkinabe Foreign Minister reassured the Omani delegation of Burkina Faso's dedication to fostering friendship and cooperation. This includes implementing projects that are mutually beneficial and sustainable.
The Sultanate of Oman, as the third largest country in the Arabian Peninsula, holds significant potential due to its natural resources and strategic trade position. The collaboration is expected to leverage these strengths, benefiting the peoples of both nations.
