Ouagadougou: The city of Ouagadougou and Novosibirsk, the third largest city in the Russian Federation and capital of Siberia, formalized their twinning relationship, marking a significant step forward in strengthening cooperative efforts across various domains.
According to Burkina Information Agency, the twinning agreement was signed on Tuesday, November 11, 2025, by Maurice Konate, president of the special delegation of Ouagadougou, and Maksim Koudriavtsev, mayor of Novosibirsk. This event marked the culmination of a long-standing partnership process between the two cities, focusing on enhancing collaboration in education, arts, culture, sport, and tourism. The agreement aims to facilitate the exchange of experiences and foster closer ties between the residents of the two municipalities.
In conjunction with the signing ceremony, the Novosibirsk Regional Museum unveiled a Burkinabe cultural exhibition titled “The Grandeur of Bronze, Traditional Culture of Burkina Faso,” which is set to run for three months. The exhibition is led by the Burkinabe Ministry of Trade, with Seraphin B. Badolo heading the delegation. Visitors to the exhibition can explore an array of artworks created by Burkinabe artists, showcasing the rich cultural heritage of Burkina Faso.
Additionally, the Novosibirsk regional library hosts a Burkinabe stand featuring local souvenirs, further promoting cultural exchange and understanding. The endeavor was supported by a team from the Embassy of Burkina Faso in Moscow, highlighting the collaborative spirit between the two nations.
