Ouagadougou: As part of the fight against urban crime, the National Police dismantled an illegal oil processing unit operating in an unplanned area of ??Ouagadougou, a police source said Wednesday.
According to Burkina Information Agency, the network obtained its supplies of residues from cottonseed oil production plants, which it then processed using chemicals and heat to extract oils for resale.
The operation was carried out by the Ouagadougou Central Police Station (CCPO), with the support of the Police Station of District No. 12. Investigations established that these residues came in particular from the Kossodo industrial zone. The processed products were then resold, according to the defendants, to soap manufacturers. The transport of the goods was handled by a tricycle driver hired specifically for this purpose.
Thanks to the collaboration of the local population, the security forces arrested two active members of the network and seized several items, including a tricycle and more than sixty 20-liter cans of oil. The National Police praised the citizens' contribution to the fight against insecurity and invited them to remain vigilant and report any suspicious behavior to the toll-free numbers 17, 16 and 1010.
