Ouagadougou: Burkina Faso and China intend to strengthen their media cooperation through content sharing, technology transfer, and training for information and communication professionals. This emerged from a meeting between the Minister of Communication, Pingdwend Gilbert Oudraogo, and the Chinese Vice Minister of the National Radio and Television Administration, Liu Jianguo, on the sidelines of the 7th Forum on China-Africa Media Cooperation, held from August 19 to 21, 2026, in Beijing.

According to Burkina Information Agency, as part of the content sharing agreement, the two parties agreed to examine the possibilities of broadcasting documentary programs as well as major film and audiovisual productions between Radiodiffusion-Tlvision du Burkina (RTB) and one of the Chinese public television stations. This initiative aims to promote the mutual discovery of the two peoples' cultures, with an agreement set to formalize this first phase of the partnership.

Burkina Faso also intends to benefit from Chinese technological experience to upgrade its audiovisual equipment and modernize its media infrastructure. Both parties also reaffirmed their commitment to continuing training sessions and exchanges of experience between information and communication professionals from the public and private sectors.

At the end of the meeting, Minister Pingdwend Gilbert Oudraogo welcomed the Chinese stance, which, according to him, is part of a strategic partnership allowing the two peoples to get to know each other better through cultural and media cooperation.
