Ouagadougou: The Minister of Communication in Burkina Faso, Pingdwend Gilbert Oudraogo, has urged the Directors of Communication and Press Relations (DCRP) of various ministries and institutions to adopt a more strategic approach in their communication efforts to effectively dismantle stereotypes about the country.
According to Burkina Information Agency, Minister Oudraogo made these remarks on Wednesday during the opening of the annual consultation framework of the Government Information Service (SIG) and the DCRP. The event was themed “Deconstructing Stereotypes about Burkina Faso,” emphasizing the need for a communication strategy that aligns with national realities.
The Minister highlighted that public communication should extend beyond mere dissemination of information. It should actively contribute to building trust between governmental institutions and the citizens. He emphasized that the ongoing communication battle requires public communication actors to continuously evolve their methods and strategies to address new informational challenges.
The DCRPs were tasked with identifying persisting stereotypes and misconceptions within their respective ministerial departments. Minister Oudraogo encouraged them to propose suitable responses and develop communication strategies that truly reflect the country’s realities. This strategic communication is seen as vital for showcasing the positive actions and achievements in sectors such as road infrastructure, health, agriculture, livestock, and digital services.
Minister Oudraogo concluded that this approach would not only enhance the coherence and proactiveness of public communication but also support Burkina Faso’s developmental goals and resilience efforts.
