Tannounyan: The Minister of Secondary Education, Vocational and Technical Training, Professor Moumouni Zoungrana, visited the Tannounyan region to convey messages of encouragement and discuss the Government's new vision for the national education system.
According to Burkina Information Agency, the minister emphasized the importance of meeting with educational stakeholders to offer gratitude for their efforts and to present the future direction of education in Burkina Faso.
Professor Zoungrana acknowledged the challenges faced by the region, particularly the school closures due to insecurity. He credited the Defense and Security Forces (FDS) for enabling the reopening of these schools, and he praised the dedication of teachers and staff who have played a critical role in resuming educational activities.
The Minister shared the Government's vision, which focuses heavily on vocational and technical training, aiming for 60% of graduates to emerge from these programs by 2050. Current initiatives include a restructuring program to equip students in higher education with practical skills in areas like agriculture, poultry farming, and digital professions.
Participants in the discussions expressed concerns about career paths, resource shortages, and infrastructure issues. The Minister reassured them of the Government's commitment to addressing these challenges, emphasizing the need for grassroots involvement in developing sustainable solutions. He called for patience and engagement from all educational stakeholders to ensure the reforms are effective and inclusive.
The Minister concluded by acknowledging the strong commitment of educational actors in Tannounyan, recognizing the region as a leader in trades and vocational training.
