Nahouri: The executive branch of Burkina Faso is taking decisive steps to enhance the capabilities of its administrative staff to ensure the smooth functioning of government operations. The Minister in charge of War, Major General Clestin Simpor, inaugurated a series of capacity-building sessions on Tuesday for nearly 200 officials from various ministries and institutions. The initiative aims to improve the quality of documents and texts submitted to the Council of Ministers, ultimately enhancing the effectiveness of government actions.
According to Burkina Information Agency, these training sessions underscore the executive's commitment to prioritizing skills development, professionalization of public actors, and the continuous improvement of administrative performance. Major General Clestin Simpor, who is also the Minister of State, Minister of War and Patriotic Defense, emphasized the importance of this endeavor during the opening of the training series, which will extend over more than a month.
Clestin Simpor highlighted that the decision to strengthen managerial capacities was made in 2022 as a response to the increasing number of applications being rejected due to deficiencies. The training addresses a crucial need, considering the high mobility of staff within public administration and the ongoing integration of new employees.
General Simpor elaborated on the nature of government work, which involves the various processes, procedures, and actions through which the executive branch manages state affairs. He explained that public officials play a pivotal role in preparing technical files aligned with government mission letters, both before and after the Council of Ministers meetings.
The capacity-building sessions are designed to help managers in ministries and institutions consolidate their knowledge, refine their professional practices, and better meet the demands of governmental operations. General Clestin Simpor stressed the particular significance of the upcoming 2026 session, aimed at reinforcing Burkina Faso's information sovereignty. He identified the control, security, and enhancement of information as critical challenges for effective public action.
In conclusion, General Simpor called for an administration that is "more efficient, more rigorous, more responsive and resolutely results-oriented," with a focus on serving the nation's higher interests.
