Ouagadougou: The Burkinabe government on Thursday authorized the continuation of the Agropastoral, Hydraulic and Fisheries Offensive (OAPH) for the period 2026-2028, a vast program financed from the State's own resources to the tune of 839.99 billion FCFA and which will create 125,000 jobs.

According to Burkina Information Agency, the implementation of the OAPH 2026-2028 will focus on eight priority sectors: rice, milk, soy, sesame, peanut, wheat, cassava, and shea. It will also concern six sectors to be consolidated, namely maize, potato, mango, livestock-meat, fish, and poultry, and six emerging sectors: plantain banana, sunflower, pineapple, rabbit, oil palm, and cocoa.

Ultimately, this new initiative should increase agricultural, livestock, and fisheries production, particularly cereals, by 40%, while sustainably maintaining the cereal self-sufficiency rate above 120%. The program also anticipates the creation of 125,000 jobs in the sector.

This new phase of the Offensive now incorporates the field of water resources and the improvement of living conditions. It constitutes a sectoral framework for operationalizing the RELANCE 2026-2030 plan. The overall cost of the 2026-2028 agropastoral, hydraulic and fisheries offensive is estimated at 839.99 billion FCFA, entirely financed by the State's own resources.

Through this offensive, the government intends to consolidate the achievements of the first phase, operationalize the instruments already in place, develop new strategic sectors, and promote emerging sectors.
