Burkina Faso Government Unveils New Headquarters for Directorate General of Water and Forests


Ouagadougou: The government of Burkina Faso has officially inaugurated the new headquarters of the Directorate General of Water and Forests in Ouagadougou. The project, funded by the State budget, represents an investment of 4 billion 119 million FCFA and is designed to provide a modern working environment tailored to the mission of safeguarding the nation’s forest and wildlife resources.

According to Burkina Information Agency, the building spans three levels and covers an area of approximately 2,500 square meters. It features 132 offices, a 300-seat conference room that can be expanded, a 60-seat meeting room, and a room dedicated to technical equipment, among other facilities. This infrastructure aims to enhance the operational and organizational capabilities of the Water and Forestry agents, thereby improving their working conditions.

Minister of Security Mahamadou Sana emphasized that this new establishment is integral to the government’s recovery plan, which prioritizes bolstering security. He noted t
hat the building is a critical tool for improving ground efficiency. Sana acknowledged the challenges encountered during the construction process, highlighting the difficulties and threats faced before the project’s completion.

Colonel Bernabe Kabore, the Director General of Water and Forests, remarked that the new headquarters symbolizes more than just infrastructure. He described it as a torch to be carried with dignity, emphasizing the institution’s commitment to its environmental legacy. Kabore pledged to uphold the standards of the facility through rigorous dedication to national service, asserting that a well-housed institution is better equipped to plan, coordinate, and intensify efforts against terrorism and in securing forest areas.

In his address, Colonel Kabore expressed profound gratitude on behalf of the staff to the government, the President of Faso, and the Minister of Security for this significant investment.
