Ouagadougou: The Burkinabe government has announced the suspension of all flour imports, including infant flour, couscous, and semolina, across the nation until further notice. This decision, aimed at bolstering local production, was detailed in a joint statement issued on Thursday.According to Burkina Information Agency, the statement was signed by the ministers responsible for Trade, Agriculture, Health, and Economy and Finance. Effective from July 30, 2026, the suspension seeks to promote the sale of domestically produced goods. However, the government has allowed a grace period for economic operators who initiated import activities before this announcement. They have two months from the signing date to finalize their import procedures.The government is relying on the cooperation of various stakeholders, including border control and security forces, to enforce this new regulation.
