Ouagadougou: The Ministry of Digital Transition, Posts and Electronic Communications officially launched two digital platforms on Tuesday, named "Citizen Petitions in Burkina Faso" and the "Portal for Access to Public Administration E-Services", as part of the modernization of public administration, in the presence of the head of the department, Aminata Zerbo/Sabane.
According to Burkina Information Agency, Severin Dembele, a digital engineering engineer at the Ministry in charge of Digital Transition, stated that the first platform, "Citizen Petitions in Burkina Faso", accessible at http://www.petitions.gov.bf, will contribute to modernizing the Burkinabe administration. This tool allows users to propose modernization ideas online, vote on procedures to be digitized, and support petitions through a single, anonymous vote.
Mr. Dembele emphasized that the platform aims to raise citizens' concerns to guide priorities for the digitization of public services and improve administrative governance. Citizens can comment on and share petitions on social media and submit new proposals after registering on the platform. Petitions that are validated and reach 5,000 votes will be forwarded to relevant authorities for review and implementation.
Regarding the second platform, the "Access Portal to Public Administration E-Services", software engineer Faysal Millogo highlighted that it serves as the official entry point to the State's digital services. The portal, accessible via http://www.service-public.gov.bf, currently lists 1,672 administrative procedures, 95 of which are digitized, along with 183 referenced public institutions.
Mr. Millogo explained that the portal offers sections including themes, life events, e-services, the business area, the directory of public structures, and news related to administrative reforms. It aims to combat fraudulent sites imitating official state platforms and direct citizens to authentic digital services.
The two engineers assured that these tools would bring the administration closer to citizens and improve the efficiency of public services. According to the Minister of Servants of the People, Mathias Traore, these tools are part of the digital transformation policy initiated in 2023, with 12 major projects planned by 2030, under the leadership of President of Faso, Captain Ibrahim Traore.
Mr. Traore stressed that these platforms aim to strengthen the country's digital sovereignty and secure access to digital public services in a "paperless" approach. In the coming days, each ministry will publish around ten administrative procedures, allowing citizens to vote for those they wish to see digitized this year.
The ministry in charge of digital transition invited public administrations, the media, the private sector, and civil society organizations to promote the use of these platforms to encourage their adoption by the population.
