Sissili: The work of the meeting of ministers and experts in charge of Sports and Youth of the Confederation of Sahel States resulted on Friday in the adoption of several operational instruments including five documents adopted to accelerate integration through youth and sport.
According to Burkina Information Agency, these documents include the Memorandum of Understanding on the Confederal Youth and Volunteering Forum, the one on the organization of the AES Confederation Games with their regulations, the Memorandum on the Confederal Employment Fair, the concept note of the Youth and Sports Development Centre, and a 2026 roadmap by country.
In her closing speech, the Minister of Sports, Youth and Employment of Burkina Faso, Annick Pikbougoum/Zingue Ouattara, indicated that at the end of the rich and constructive exchanges, the delegations from Burkina Faso, Mali, and Niger agreed to move from reflection to action.
For the minister, sport, youth, and employment are essential levers to strengthen unity and offer prospects to a majority of young people in the confederation. "The adoption of these instruments reflects our determination to put in place operational mechanisms capable of providing concrete answers to the concerns of our people, particularly those of our youth," stressed the Minister of Sports of Burkina Faso.
The ministers decided to meet for a second meeting in Niamey, on a date set through diplomatic channels. Special mention was made to Captain Ibrahim Traor©, President of Faso and of the Confederation, for his leadership in the construction of the AES space.
