Burkina Faso Ministries Advocate for Economic Sovereignty Through Local Products

Ouagadougou:Staff from the Ministry of Territorial Administration and Mobility and the Ministry of Justice have been encouraged to prioritize domestic products as part of a push for economic sovereignty. This initiative was highlighted during a joint ceremony where the national colors were raised and the national anthem was sung in Dioula.

According to Burkina Information Agency, the Ministers Emile Zerbo and Edasso Rodrigue Bayala emphasized the importance of citizen engagement to achieve a sovereign Burkina Faso. This aligns with the message from the President of Faso, Captain Ibrahim Traore, delivered during the second phase of the third edition of the National Days of Patriotic Engagement and Citizen Participation (JEPPC).

The current phase of the JEPPC, which began on October 2, 2026, and will continue until October 16, 2026, promotes the motto: "All for Made in Burkina: Let's make every purchase an act of sovereignty." President Traore's message, read by Minister Zerbo, urges Burkinabe citizens to prioritize local products, emphasizing the pillars of production, processing, and consumption as essential for economic sovereignty.

Government agencies are called upon to prioritize Burkinabe products, particularly in school cafeterias and public procurement. Retailers are encouraged to display local products prominently, while producers and processors are asked to enhance their product quality and presentation.

The President's message concludes with a call for citizens to produce, process, and consume Burkinabe products to strengthen the nation's economic independence. "In the fields, let's produce Burkinabe! In the factories, let's process Burkinabe! At the markets, let's buy Burkinabe! At the table, let's consume Burkinabe!" Captain Ibrahim Traore declared.
