Burkina Faso Ministry of Justice Launches Nationwide Conferences to Foster Patriotism in Schools

Ouagadougou: The Minister of Justice, Rodrigue Bayala, has initiated a series of 30 conferences designed to promote civic duty and citizenship among young people in Burkina Faso. These conferences, launched in Ouagadougou, aim to instill a sense of patriotism among students throughout the country.

According to Burkina Information Agency, Mr. Bayala, along with the Minister of Education, announced that these conferences will be held in various schools and universities across the nation. The initiative seeks to educate young learners on the importance of civic and patriotic values. A total of 30 conferences are planned, including six in the Central region, to inspire patriotism and revitalize the patriotic spirit among citizens, particularly the youth, amidst ongoing challenges such as terrorism and imperialism.

These conferences mark the first phase of the third edition of the JEPPC, themed: "Let's produce Burkinab¨, let's consume Burkinab¨: our plate, our pride". The Minister of Justice emphasized that this slogan is more than a concept; it is an act of patriotism aimed at reinforcing national identity. It also pays homage to Captain Thomas Isidore No«l Sankara, the father of the Revolution, and strives to revive his ideals.

Mr. Bayala encouraged students to engage actively in enhancing food and nutritional security in schools. He advocated for the establishment of school gardens and the learning of market gardening techniques, along with the management of natural resources and environmental conservation.

Minister of Secondary Education, Vocational and Technical Training, Moumouni Zoungrana, outlined the government's educational vision, which combines academic qualifications with practical skills. He urged students to contribute to Burkina Faso's development by adhering to discipline, diligence, and respect for institutions. "A good citizen is one who respects the laws of the Republic, authority, and the symbols of the Nation," he asserted.

Mr. Zoungrana also highlighted the crucial role of youth in national development, stressing that the responsibility for Burkina Faso's progress rests with its citizens. He called for a rejection of laziness in favor of hard work, emphasizing that the country's development is a collective effort.
