Burkina Faso Ministry of National Construction Boosts Infrastructure with Two Billion CFA Equipment Donation

Ouagadougou: The Minister of Construction of the Fatherland, Mikalou Sidib©, handed over technical equipment to the National Laboratory of Building and Public Works (LNBTP) on Monday, February 2, 2026, worth nearly 2,278,500 CFA francs.

According to Burkina Information Agency, this equipment, essential to keep pace with current challenges, includes heavy and light dynamic penetrometers mounted on wheels, geotechnical probes, GEOPAC 10 MPa self-monitoring pressuremeters, and a falling mass FWD reflectometer. The significant donation underscores the ongoing construction boom in Burkina Faso, positioning LNBTP as a crucial component in the country's construction framework.

Minister Mikalou Sidib© emphasized the necessity of strengthening LNBTP to meet expectations. He instructed the Directorate General of Infrastructure to rapidly deploy the equipment to align with the numerous construction projects, primarily driven by presidential initiatives. These initiatives are the top priority, followed by supporting individuals in quickly validating building permit applications.

Sidib© also mentioned planned reforms to enable the private sector to support governmental efforts under public supervision, ensuring quality service provision. The Director General of LNBTP, Mamadou Ouattara, noted that this allocation is the first of its kind since the laboratory's inception, arriving at a time when the laboratory faces dual challenges: opening certain professions to the private sector and establishing four new regional directorates in Gulmu, Nankamb©, Yaadga, and Bankui.

Ouattara, committed to efficient equipment management, assured that the equipment would be deployed across impacted regions to facilitate access for various construction sites nationwide. The minister and Ouattara expressed gratitude to the financial partner, Vista Bank, for their support.
