Burkina Faso: President Traore Announces an Economic Offensive Based on Industrialization and Sovereignty

Burkina faso: The President of Faso, Ibrahim Traore, reaffirmed on Thursday his commitment to building a sovereign economy, focused on local industrialization, the development of national resources and the reduction of imports.

According to Burkina Information Agency, President Ibrahim Traore indicated that the industrialization of Burkina Faso remains at an "embryonic" stage, while highlighting progress in the local processing of agricultural products. He cited the production of wheat flour, oil, and derivative products as examples of an ongoing dynamic aimed at reducing external dependence.

The government's approach also favours the creation of small industrial units accessible to young people, in order to stimulate employment and national production. "Industry begins with what we consume on a daily basis," he insisted.

Furthermore, President Traore mentioned the Ouagadougou-Bobo-Dioulasso highway project, conceived as a strategic lever for economic development and security. Finally, he called on the population to adopt the slogan "consume what we produce", with a view to strengthening the country's economic and food sovereignty.
