Burkina Faso Prime Minister Advocates for Support of State-Owned Enterprises Reforms

Houet: Prime Minister Rimtalba Jean Emmanuel Ou©draogo has called upon the leaders of public companies in Burkina Faso to support ongoing reforms aimed at benefiting the Burkinabe people. The Prime Minister's remarks were made during the opening of the 34th General Assembly of State Companies and Public Social Welfare Establishments (EPPS) held on Friday.

According to Burkina Information Agency, Prime Minister Ou©draogo highlighted the progress of reforms in public and semi-public companies during the 2025 financial year. These reforms have been implemented to enhance the efficiency, performance, and contribution of these enterprises to national development. The Prime Minister emphasized the importance of these companies as instruments of social cohesion and economic growth.

In his address, Ou©draogo applauded the establishment of six new State-owned Enterprises, demonstrating the government's commitment to reinforcing its strategic presence in critical sectors of the national economy. He revealed that State-owned companies had contributed 680.049 billion FCFA to the State budget in 2025, an increase of 84.735 billion FCFA from 2024, marking a 14.23% rise.

Further, the Prime Minister reported that 25 out of 28 State-owned companies had achieved a net profit, totaling 146.675 billion FCFA, which is up by 22.45% or 26.895 billion FCFA from the previous year. The turnover for these companies reached 3,090.030 billion FCFA in 2025, signifying a rise of 608.819 billion FCFA from 2024.

Ou©draogo also noted the improvement in performance indicators of the 3 Public Establishments for Social Protection (EPPS), with total consolidated products amounting to 279.914 billion FCFA and a contribution of 2.824 billion FCFA to the State budget.

Minister of Trade, Serge Gnaniodem Poda, commended the State Companies' performance, noting that despite three companies posting losses, the overall results were satisfactory. He credited the achievements to the vision of the national leadership, particularly President Captain Ibrahim Traor©, who has mandated a virtuous management policy for State Companies.

Poda urged public company leaders to maintain their commitment to ensuring that the wealth generated continues to enhance the well-being of the Burkinabe people.
