Ouagadougou: The Elisha Foundation officially launched its activities on Friday in Ouagadougou, marking the beginning of its commitment to improving access to healthcare, education, and the empowerment of women and youth. It presented two projects totaling 442 million CFA francs aimed at improving the living conditions of vulnerable people through social support, training, and economic empowerment initiatives.
According to Burkina Information Agency, the first project, called “Solidarity House,” provides support for 750 direct beneficiaries for 36 months at an estimated cost of 253 million CFA francs. This includes, in particular, support for 100 displaced or orphaned children, 50 elderly people, training for 300 women in income-generating activities, and the annual distribution of 900 school and food kits throughout the national territory.
The second project, ‘Espoir Elisha,’ focuses on agro-sylvopastoral, forestry, and academic training. Costing 189 million CFA francs, it will be implemented at the Digla high school, about 30 kilometers from Ouagadougou. The project plans to train 400 students annually in agroforestry, 20 young people and 100 women in agricultural and livestock production, and to plant 5,000 tree seedlings over a three-year period.
The founding president of the Elisha Foundation, Sawadogo J©r©mie, stated that the organization was born out of a “cry from the heart” in response to the difficulties faced by vulnerable people. He specified that the foundation intends to intervene in the areas of health, education, economic empowerment of women and youth, as well as the protection of children and the elderly.
Sawadogo emphasized, “The Elisha Foundation is not here to replace the efforts of the State. It is here to contribute to the effort and work in synergy with human development actors,” while reaffirming his organization’s commitment to acting with integrity, transparency, and responsibility.
The foundation’s executive director, Pierre Ou©draogo, presented the missions and ambitions of this humanitarian and philanthropic organization, authorized by decree no. 2026-001 of January 5, 2026, and published in the Official Journal no. 20 of May 15, 2026. According to him, the vision of the Elisha Foundation is to enable every child, every woman, and every vulnerable person to live in dignity and to become an actor in the development of their community.
Through these initiatives, the leaders of the Elisha Foundation have launched an appeal to institutional, technical, and financial partners to support the implementation of their projects for the benefit of vulnerable populations in Burkina Faso. The launch ceremony for the activities brought together representatives from the Ministry of Solidarity, administrative authorities, leaders of civil society organizations, technical and financial partners, as well as several guests.
