Ouagadougou: The Ministry of Foreign Affairs recorded an overall execution rate of 55.08% of its performance contract by June 30, 2026, Minister Karamogo Jean Marie Traor© announced Friday in Ouagadougou.
According to Burkina Information Agency, the objectives contract of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs is structured around three major axes: the contribution to the defense of the territory through diplomacy serving peace and security, the promotion of integration and influence of Burkina Faso, and the management of the diaspora along with the strengthening of patriotism.
“As of June 30, 2026, the consolidated results of achieving all the objectives assigned to our department stand at a rate of 55.08%,” said Minister Traor©. Despite the overall performance, he noted disparities between different objectives. The first area, which supports the defense of the territory and promotes diplomacy for peace and security, shows a high implementation rate of 83.12%.
The second objective, focusing on the promotion of regional integration and Burkina Faso’s influence, reached 52%, while the third, concerning diaspora management and patriotism promotion, recorded an achievement rate of 53%.
The Burkinabe foreign minister mentioned that the Prime Minister acknowledged the difficulties faced by his department and provided new guidelines to enhance performance in the second half of the year. Among the priorities is the implementation of the Year II roadmap of the Confederation of Sahel States (AES), with assurances that actions will continue to meet the objectives in this framework.
The discussions also covered the diaspora one-stop shop project, aimed at facilitating administrative procedures for Burkinabe abroad. According to Mr. Traor©, the virtual platform is finalized and awaits deployment. “Guidelines have been given to ensure this portal can be deployed as quickly as possible, while other options are being developed,” he explained.
He announced plans to accelerate the digitalization of services within the Department of Foreign Affairs to dematerialize administrative procedures by year-end. The discussions also included the curriculum of the Graduate Institute of International Studies, with government guidelines integrating the values and principles of the People’s Progressive Revolution (PPR) in the training of future diplomats.
The Minister assured that his department will implement the recommendations from this performance review without delay to improve results in the second half of 2026.
