Ouagadougou: The Ministers of Defense and Security, Development, and Diplomacy of the Alliance of Sahel States (AES) Confederation have given their approval to the confederation's second-year roadmap in the Burkinabe capital. This document is intended to guide various actions within the shared space.

According to Burkina Information Agency, Bassolma Bazi©, representing the Burkinabe delegation, highlighted that the ministerial meeting facilitated the alignment of actions and responsibilities for the upcoming twelve months. This alignment aims to reaffirm the shared vision of sovereignty, security resolve, diplomatic coordination, and economic integration among the member states.

The meeting occurred amid attempts to destabilize member states and external pressures that aim to obstruct their progress toward achieving sovereignty. The approved document will move forward to the College of Heads of State for formal adoption.

In a related development, the President of Burkina Faso, Captain Ibrahim Traor©, was appointed on December 23, 2025, in Bamako to take on the rotating presidency of the Confederation of the Alliance of Sahel States for a one-year term. According to Bassolma Bazi©, representing the Minister of War and Patriotic Defense, Captain Ibrahim Traor©'s appointment marks not just an institutional rotation but a new phase of consolidation, deepening, and strategic projection for the AES Confederation.

Bazi© explained that President Traor© is committed to ensuring continuity while also initiating new projects during his term. "The AES is no longer a conceptual tool. It is an emerging geopolitical actor. In an international context marked by the realignment of alliances and the redefinition of centers of influence, the Confederation of Sahel States is now asserting itself as an entity to be reckoned with," he stated.
