Ouagadougou: After the early elimination of the Stallions from the Moroccan AFCON, the Burkinabe Football Federation (FBF) announced in a statement, a copy of which was obtained by AIB, that it will draw the necessary lessons as soon as possible to make decisions.
According to Burkina Information Agency, the Stallions, who entered this AFCON "with the legitimate ambition of doing better than in the previous edition, saw their journey end in the round of 16, just like in the last AFCON." The FBF noted that the elimination, which occurred under difficult conditions, both in terms of the score and performance below expectations, does not reflect the intrinsic quality of the squad or the confidence placed in it by the Burkinabe people.
The Federation expressed its gratitude to the highest authorities of the country for their support, as well as to the entire Burkinab¨ sporting public for their steadfast support before, during, and after the competition. Coach Brama Traor had aimed to bring home the trophy, but the Stallions were stopped by the Elephants of Ivory Coast in the Round of 16 with a 0-3 defeat. This marks a repeat of the team's exit at the Round of 16 stage, similar to the 2023 Africa Cup of Nations.
