Burkina Faso’s KORAG Considers Leniency for Self-Reporting Officials in Diploma Forgery Scandal

Ouagadougou: Captain Farouk Azaria Sorgho, spokesperson for KORAG, announced Thursday evening that measures to mitigate sanctions could be applied to public officials found guilty of forging diplomas and who voluntarily report themselves to the competent authorities. Captain Sorgho indicated that a batch of 6,000 public officials’ diplomas were scrutinized. These files concern civil servants from structures as diverse as the Presidency of Faso, the Ministries of Health, Security, Agriculture, Economy and Finance, Territorial Administration, Mobility, Primary, Secondary and Higher Education, Environment, Digital Transition, Humanitarian Action, Justice, as well as other independent public institutions.

According to Burkina Information Agency, the processing of these files has made it possible to identify unscrupulous agents, some of whom, holding non-authentic diplomas, have already been revoked. As a reminder, 21 public officials were dismissed during the Council of Ministers of September 4, 2025, and 4 others during that of September 11, 2025, for falsifying diplomas used for their recruitment.

The KORAG spokesperson clarified that the operation will continue and intensify in the coming months, but that those who report themselves could benefit from reduced sanctions. This initiative is part of the desire of the President of Faso, Captain Ibrahim Traore, to restore integrity within the public administration and to strengthen citizens’ confidence in the management of state affairs.

KORAG is an institution responsible for defining and monitoring the implementation of Burkina Faso’s strategic vision in all areas, and its members have jurisdiction over the entire territory.
