Solenzo:Banwa The Defense and Security Forces (FDS), alongside the Volunteers for the Defense of the Homeland (VDP) and Solenzo's residents, mobilized on Thursday, October 29, 2026, to clean the city's Medical Center with surgical unit (CMA) and the main market. This initiative was part of the 66th anniversary celebration of Burkina Faso's National Armed Forces.
According to Burkina Information Agency, the cleanup operation was attended by Captain Papa Perfect Kambou, commander of the 18th Rapid Intervention Battalion (BIR), and Jacques Ouédraogo, the central police commissioner of Solenzo. Participants, equipped with hoes, rakes, and machetes, worked together to clear plastic waste, tall grass, and other debris, promoting a healthier environment for the local community.
This act of community service was not just a symbolic gesture for the anniversary but also demonstrated a collaborative effort between the military forces and the local population. Captain Kambou highlighted the significance of sanitation days as a means to promote hygiene, prevent diseases, and empower citizens to protect their environment. He stressed the need for making sanitation a regular practice beyond major celebrations.
The involvement of Solenzo's residents, particularly women, underscored the importance of community engagement in sanitation efforts. This mobilization gave a civic dimension to the anniversary, emphasizing that homeland defense also extends to public health protection, environmental preservation, and community participation in local development.
