Ouagadougou: The new Minister of Homeland Construction of Burkina Faso, Mikalou Sidibe, emphasized the need for a transformative approach to nation-building during his installation on Thursday. Sidibe outlined a mission that involves breaking conventional rules, challenging existing certainties, and embracing innovation with a commitment to firmness, rigor, and integrity.
According to Burkina Information Agency, Sidibe declared that the mission is to construct Faso, underlining the initiative "Faso-Mebo." He urged stakeholders in the sector to exhibit responsibility, innovation, and rigor to effectively tackle the challenges of urbanization, infrastructure, and providing decent housing. The Minister highlighted the necessity for concrete actions aimed at developing transport infrastructure and promoting controlled urbanization and housing accessibility.
Sidibe underscored the urgency of their mission, asserting that hesitance is not an option, particularly concerning road infrastructure and housing projects during this opportune period for construction. He called on professionals such as civil engineers, architects, urban planners, and surveyors to take swift action to create a better living environment for the population.
The Minister revealed that the Faso-Mebo initiative will be central to the strategies implemented, with several actions being executed in line with the nation's top leaders' directives. He also acknowledged the contributions of former ministries responsible for Infrastructure and Housing, as well as the work of ministerial offices, which will provide a foundation for future endeavors.
Former Minister of Infrastructure, Adama Luc Sorgho, expressed his dedication to continue supporting the sector and conveyed confidence in Sidibe's ability to achieve the outlined goals. The Secretary General of the Government, Ousmane Ouattara, who officiated the installation, assured Sidibe of the government's full support in his mission and expressed gratitude to Sorgho for his prior contributions.
The Ministry of Homeland Construction was established through the merger of the Ministry of Housing and Urban Planning and the Ministry of Infrastructure and Rural Development.
