Burkina Faso’s Progress in Artificial Intelligence Highlighted by Local Researcher

Ouagadougou: Artificial intelligence researcher Rodrigue Kafando believes that Burkina Faso is making significant progress in the field of artificial intelligence, while also facing challenges related to technological sovereignty and adapting solutions to local realities. In an interview with our newsroom, he advocated for the development of innovative tools, designed using local data, to effectively meet the needs of the population, particularly in the education, health, and public services sectors.

According to Burkina Information Agency, Kafando emphasized the importance of creating AI solutions that are tailored to the specific needs and conditions of Burkina Faso. He suggested that leveraging local data is crucial for the development of tools that can address the unique challenges faced by the country. Kafando also highlighted the sectors of education, health, and public services as key areas where AI can have a significant impact.

Kafando pointed out that while progress is being made, Burkina Faso still faces obstacles in terms of technological sovereignty. He stressed the need for the country to have control over its AI technologies and to ensure that these technologies are adapted to the local context. This approach, he argued, will help Burkina Faso to harness the full potential of artificial intelligence for the benefit of its citizens.
