Ouagadougou: In his Easter sermon, Father Jules Pascal Zabre, rector of the Yagma Sanctuary, called for the promotion of living together in harmony and love of neighbor, which he considered prerequisites for the return of peace to Burkina Faso and beyond. Three members of the government, led by Foreign Minister Karamoko Jean-Marie Traore, attended the religious service.
According to Burkina Information Agency, the rector of the Yagma Sanctuary, Father Jules Pascal Zabre, placed Easter under the sign of peace, which he described as a "rare commodity" in the world and in Burkina Faso. For him, "the message of Easter is quite simple: it is peace in the world."
"We are here to implore the peace of the Risen One for our country, Burkina Faso," he added, while welcoming the presence of government members at this celebration. According to him, this participation reflects the authorities' attention to the concerns of the population, "regardless of their religion."
Father Zabre also called on the faithful to promote living together and love of neighbor, essential conditions for a lasting return of peace. The government delegation consisted of Foreign Minister Karamoko Jean-Marie Traore, Minister in charge of Homeland Construction Mikalou Sidibe, and Minister of Servants of the People Mathias Traore.
"We were mandated by the President of Faso, Captain Ibrahim Traore, and the Prime Minister, Rimtalba Jean Emmanuel Ouedraogo, to come and deliver the message of congratulations, solidarity, and gratitude from the government to the entire Church for the spiritual vigils and prayers performed in silence for the country," said the Minister of Foreign Affairs.
The minister stressed that this celebration comes after "40 days of mourning", adding that the Easter holiday "takes on the symbol of victory", in a national context marked by security challenges. Its celebration symbolizes, in the Christian faith, the victory of life over death and of good over evil, the government indicated, calling for continued hope that Burkina Faso, facing difficult times, will achieve this victory.
Easter is one of the most important holidays in the Christian calendar. It marks the resurrection of Jesus Christ and is a time for prayer, sharing, and spiritual renewal for the faithful.
