Burkina Government Approves Urgent Construction of Science and Technology Unit and University Campus in Dori

Ouagadougou: The government of Burkina Faso has announced plans to build a Science and Technology Training and Research Unit (UFR/ST) along with a university campus for the Dori University Center. This development was confirmed during the Council of Ministers meeting held on Wednesday, where a decree for the construction was adopted.

According to Burkina Information Agency, the Minister of Higher Education, Professor Adjima THIOMBIANO, revealed that the country has secured funding for the project through partnerships with donors. The project has been declared of urgent public utility, allowing for expedited processes in its execution.

The minister noted that funding for the infrastructure has been available since 2020. However, the project has faced delays due to issues with site availability. Despite extensive discussions and negotiations, the chosen site remains inaccessible, preventing the commencement of construction work.

The Dori University Center, established in 2018, currently offers five courses: Animal Production and Health (PSA), Mines and Quarries, Economics and Management Sciences, Modern Letters, and Socio-anthropology. The new infrastructure aims to enhance the academic offerings and facilities at the university center.
