Burkina Governor Commends Major Projects Office for Advancing Local Development


Gaoua: The Governor of the Djoro region, Siaka Barro, welcomed the Burkina National Office for Major Projects (BN-GPB) during their visit to Gaoua on Wednesday evening, acknowledging the significant work done towards local development and food self-sufficiency.



According to Burkina Information Agency, the BN-GPB was in Gaoua as part of a field trip aimed at supporting the Agricultural Volunteers for the Defense of the Homeland (VDP). During the visit, they updated the governor on the advancements in the Presidential Initiative for Agricultural Production and Food Self-Sufficiency (IP-P3A).



Governor Siaka Barro praised the efforts of the Bureau and urged young farmers to maintain their progress. He highlighted the initiative’s role in addressing unemployment and engaging the youth in productive activities throughout the year.



Barro also expressed appreciation for the vision of the President of Faso, Captain Ibrahim Traore, stating that the initiative offers a sustainable path for economic development. He encouraged the BN-GPB to analyze the current agricultural season to better plan for the 2025-2026 season.



The initiative has trained 2,000 young VDP farmers in cultivation techniques, deploying them across various municipalities to support the revival of Burkinabe agriculture.
